One of my big beefs with Quicken and other applications to manage personal finances, is that they tell you how much you have when it's too late. In other words, you can't see how much you are about to spend. And by the time you've spent it and realize you're over budget, there's no going back.
The age-old envelope method went the way of the horse and buggy with the advent of VISA and Mastercard and the ever-ubiquitous checkcard. Financial institutions don't have a vested interest in helping you manage what you have because what they really want is for all of us to keep going into debt. The whole ruddy system is geared for it.
So it was refreshing to see there is still someone out there with some financial common sense, not to mention the programming skills to create this virtual envelope financial management system.
